Remember on the last Thursday of every month we are joined by Barnard Castle Folk club who always bring a host of excellent talent.

A Warm Welcome to the Old Well Inn

Eat Well, Drink Well, Sleep Well....

Teesdales 'Pub of the Season'

You don’t have to go far from the door of the 17th Century Old Well Inn to enjoy the rich history of Barnard Castle and the fantastic countryside in which it sits.

The Castle wall forms part of our boundary and we are right in the centre of this historic market town and its popular antique quarter.

The hills and vales of beautiful Teesdale are on our doorstep, the unique and world famous Bowes Museum is a short walk away and there are a host of other attractions - such as High Force waterfall and the stunning Raby Castle - within half an hour’s drive.

The Hotel offers all you need for a relaxing stay. Our 10 en-suite bedrooms are beautifully and individually furnished with character and charm.

We’re well known for our cask ales and the bar serves a wide range - usually five and has an extensive wine list. And there’s a comfortable lounge, private garden and contemporary conservatory to enjoy them in.

We’re proud of our traditional English menu, with food served in the restaurant, conservatory, bar and recently renovated beer garden.

We’ve got all you want for a quiet life, but if you’re after something a bit more energetic, we’re well placed for all sorts of sports – fishing on the River Tees, walking or coast to coast cycling the Pennine Way, golfing at local and regional courses - and lots of local leisure facilities for activities such as tennis and swimming.

We also offer excellent facilities for business meetings or training sessions, with a private dining room and wireless internet access.

The Old Well Inn offers you traditional value and ambience with contemporary service - the best of both worlds.
